The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday served
notices on the respondents in a petition challenging the eligibility of Minister for Religious Affairs Noorul Haq
Qadri as member of National Assembly (MNA). Petitioner Hazrat Hussain and Shah Nawaz stated in their plea that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had ignored facts and rejected their complaint against the MNA. The petition alleged that
Qadri had been government’s defaulter when he submitted his nomination papers to the ECP. The MNA had submitted incomplete do
cuments to the elector
al body, they alleged. The petitioners prayed the court to set aside the decision of the ECP and direct the same to hear their complaint again against the minister’s eligibility. After hearing
the arguments, Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb sought reply from the respondents and adjourned the case.
